DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION METHODS IN ORAL DISEASES:
Cytologic, histologic and ultrasonographic examination
Location: Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Dentistry, Isparta- May 02-04, 2024
The learning objectives of the course are; evaluation of general and differential diagnostic features of oral mucosal diseases; presentation of non-invasive auxiliary methods (vital staining technique and brush biopsy) recommended for use in diagnosis, especially in oral mucosal lesions at risk of malignancy; interventional biopsy methods and tips in clinical practice; teaching basic information about ultrasound, general terminology, technical and application details, intended use in line with current international guideline recommendations, sonographic features of the head and neck region, ultrasonographic criteria specific to malignancies and lymph node metastases, ultrasound-guided interventional procedures and intra-operative applications in the form of theoretical and practical applications.
There are three practical sections in the course program. In the first part, it is aimed to perform staining and biopsy techniques, and in the second part, it is aimed to perform basic applications on the ultrasonography device. In the third practical application, it is aimed to teach ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration biopsy and ultrasound-guided biopsy procedure in practice.
